I've been trying to write these a little as we've gone along, but I can only post when we've had wifi. I've written a lot of these posts while at the airport waiting for our plane and now back posting several.  So start a few posts back.  :)

Summary of Monday, 10/7

Today we unpacked since we'll be here for 6 nights total.  We arrived last night and had 2 baby beds and 2 baby bathtubs in our room. (Got that taken care of so we'd have room to move).

This was a much less busy day. It was nice to rest up and get organized. We didn't go anywhere except to a convenient store to get water. Ate at the buffet which will be the standard from here on out since it's included.  We snacked for lunch from our supply that we brought and ate at a Japanese restaurant in the hotel for dinner.

We got a schedule of when we meet Ellie Kay tomorrow.  We will meet in a conference room at 10am to go over things with the 4 other couples who are here to learn about how the Chinese care for their babies and what to expect.  Then they bring babies at about 11:00am!   It's almost here!

We got a little more info today on Ellie Kay. Her feeding schedule is scary. Keep in mind she's 10 months old.  She eats at 3:00am, 5:00am, 8:00am, 10:30am, 1:30pm, 5:00pm, and 11:00pm. They also fill her bottle with 7 scoops of rice cereal and SUGAR!  Boy - do we have some work ahead of us!  It also said she is attached to foster mother who is 70 years old and has fostered 9 other babies before EK. Her personality is described as "extroverted and active - smiles a lot - hot tempered".  On my!  God knew how he'd need to make her to handle 3 big brothers. She may be able to hold her own. :)

Only a few more hours baby girl!  Now I will see if I can sleep at all tonight.   Please continue to pray for us and Ellie Kay and her foster mother.  Thanks!

  2. Yay, Ashleigh! I am so excited for you and your family. I am headed off to bed here on the east coast of the usa, smiling as I think about you with my heart beating just a little faster. Our Nanchang sweetie was also very attached to her foster mumma who is grandma-age. She gave her a tremendous gift. Our daughter grieved hard in the beginning, but she is so snugly and loving and attaching so beautifully. The gift of heart these ladies give is extraordinary. Much much love to one and all.
