Wednesday, October 9th

After EK woke, everyone got ready and dressed for the buffet downstairs.  She was very upset at first, but calmed down once we fed her.  She LOVES noodles.   It's so cute - she already knows how to suck them in very well.  She did not take a bottle too well from us though.  She really enjoyed the steamed egg and congee a lot. It was good that she enjoyed breakfast so well, because the rest of the day wasn't as strong on eating.  We started having a big problem with her not wanting her bottle from us.  We found from some more info that I had my guide translate that she takes her formula "sticky with lots of rice and fed with a spoon".  May explain the bottle thing.  We tried it in a bowl a couple of times, but I guess we don't fix it the same.  She wasn't interested.

After FaceTiming with Tru, a doctor came around to visit all of the families with our guide who translated for us since the doctor doesn't speak English. He was very nice and said she looked good, strong, and healthy. We didn't think she had any teeth, but he said she has 4 growing in on top.  Because he was a stranger, that visit upset her, but we were able to get her settled down for a nap.  There is nothing really close and convenient for lunches, so we ate granola bars, trail mix and jerky again.  :).

After naps/lunch, our guide met us to take us to WalMart.   That was an experience like no other Walmart I've visited.  It was on two floors - non foods and foods.  It was fascinating to see the differences.  The food sections were especially interesting, and we had fun seeing things such Lay's hot and sour fish chips, chicken feet (although Memphis stores carry those), and live turtles and fish.   We ended up buying some snacks on imported aisle. :).  We also stocked up on cheap bottled water, diapers, wipes, and baby food.

After we returned home, EK took an afternoon nap and the boys watched a movie, the Croods on Matt's Ipad since they're having trouble finding things to do.

After eating not a lot since breakfast, we were very hungry for dinner and were really not in the mood for Chinese.  We ordered burgers from room service and they may be perfectly ordinary burgers, but we all agreed they were just about the best burgers we'd ever had.  ;)

We had trouble again with the bottle and tried to tank her up on baby food, but she didn't eat much. She had a hard time settling down, but Matt was finally able to get her to sleep around 8 or a little after.   She woke up upset at 12:30 or so.   It was little hard to settle her down, but after an hour, Matt again was able to get her asleep.  So, it appears she's attaching to Matt.   Adopted babies will often pick 1 parent to attach to first and it looks like she wants to be a Daddy's girl.   :) It's really cute.  She definitely lets all of us care for her, but when she's tired, she wants Daddy.  She also is sad if Matt walks out of her sight.  Matt isn't minding it a bit. :).  I just hope she gets it all worked  before he has to go back to work.

She's getting better and making progress little by little.  Hopefully, we can get her diet worked out and settled.

She's adorable and is laughing and smiling and doing a cute little growl when she gets really playful. I'm so very thankful for this precious little gift God has chosen to loan to us.
