We have a daughter!!!  

I cannot begin to tell you how excited we are to introduce you to our daughter, Elena Kay Jie Thompson.  (Pronunciation: Ellen-uh and Gee-uh). We will probably call her Ellie Kay. 






She was born on November 24, 2012, so she's 7&1/2 months old.  She was born in the Jiangxi province in Southern China.  Her given Chinese name is Wan Le Jie.  (Wan is her surname.  Le = "happy"; Jie = "clean/pure").  


We will probably travel in October to go get her (Lord willing).  In the meantime, we will working with not only one, but TWO governments to work out the details.   There is a process that we have to follow or I would be on the next plane to China!!  After immigration in the US approves her to come legally, the Chinese government will have to issue us approval to come travel and get her.  Fortunately, we have a WONDERFUL agency who is fantastic at guiding us through this bureaucratic challenge.  

We would really appreciate prayers for her and our family.  Some of our prayer requests are:  

1) That God will protect and comfort her while she's living without a family.
2) That her basic needs will be met (she'll get enough food, medical care, etc).
3) For us as we wait for her.  It's so hard to think of having a child on the other side of the world and we can't go get her yet.
4) For the boys to be prepared to have a little sister and the adjustment it will be for us all as we get to know her and she gets to know us.
5) For the process to go as QUICKLY as possible!!  We pray that there won't be any unforeseen delays in paperwork, etc.

Will update more later!  I can't stop staring at her picture! :)

    Congrats! The wait for my two Chinese princesses was excruciating and the wait was a lot shorter. I can't imagine how stressful this wait was. I wish you the best. Have fun in China.

    Congratulations on your Jiangxi referral! When you are ready to get her newspaper finding ad (which has a great photo of her months younger that her referral photo), come visit us. We also may have info on her foster family, etc.

    Congratulations! I still check RQ every month, even though we adopted in '06 (the month before the big slow down started... we waited 10 months... and we thought THAT was torture-oh my!) and '08. It makes me so happy to see people who have waited so horribly long FINALLY get to see their baby's face and prepare for a life-changing trip! Our first trip was to Jiangxi, and our precious "little" one is now 8 years old. Congrats again to your whole family! :)

    Congratulations! What a little cutie! It's incredible how the years melt away once you have the picture, isn't it? My daughter is from Jiangxi Province too...I travelled in January of 2012.     What a little blessing and cutie she is. Congratulations! Our little girl is also from Jiangxi. We got her referral 5 days before Christmas in 2011 and 2 months later she was in our arms. I don't always follow RQ anymore unless I see the "babies" post. Congrats again.

    Hi there! I am also a RQ follower for the past 7 or 8 years. We brought our daughter,Ellie, home in Nov of 2007, who is also from Jiangxi, (our lid was 11-22-05). I still can't believe they haven't completed a years worth of referrals since our date. Anyway it is exciting to see a new referral you have waited so long! She is beautiful and I'm excited to follow your journey! Congratulations!

    Congratulations!!! So very, very happy for you!
    I'm from Spain and I have a daughter from the same orphanage in WANZAI. My referral came in August 2010 and we travelled in October. My daughter, called Inés, was then only 9 months old.

    Congratulations! Saw your blog listed on Rumor Queen (which I don't check much anymore!). Your daughter is (of course) gorgeous.
